New Promos: ’Wear Your Panties Just Once!’

Yes, it’s been a difficult 2023 for some, with lots of deep discounts on lingerie, with companies willing to offer and say just almost anything to get a sale.

Two approaches got our attention this summer. Both of them sounded like ads for disposable diapers. A July 13 email from Pink asked “Why Do Laundry? Panties Are 5/$15.” The note pointed out these panties were “Orig. up to $19.95 each,” adding that the promotion “Excludes Victoria’s Secret and third-party styles. Priced as marked. In stores and online.”

On June 5 I had received a similar pitch from Eby, a new lingerie brand, that promised: “Never Do Laundry Again.” The message continued: “You save up to 40% with each renewal. Plus, you get 20% off EVERY TIME you shop!” Alas, the email went on to reveal that these Eby’s panties ranged from $15 to $23 per seamless style, thus more likely destined for the washing machine than the trash barrel.

Point of reference: today on Amazon a box of Huggies Little Snugglers sells for $50.34, but then you do get 180 diapers for that, dropping the price per diaper to just 28 cents. — NM
