Aerie Income +54%, Revenue +16%



Aerie claims they have not retouched their photos for ten years.


Aerie reported higher operating income in the fourth quarter of $87.1 million on greater net revenue of $537.5 million, compared with operating income of $56.7 million on net revenue of $463.7 million in the last quarter of fiscal 2022. For the full year ended February 3, 2024 the underwear division of American Eagle Outfitters (AEO) reported operating income of $275.9 million on total net revenue of $1.67 billion, both significantly higher than the year before when Aerie reported operating income of $167.5 million on total revenue of $1.51 billion.


The company also reported that in the fourth quarter brand comp sales were up 13% in the fourth quarter and 8% for the full year.


AEO as a whole, which sells a variety of other types of apparel, reported net income of $170.0 million on sales of $5.26 billion, compared to net income of $125.1 million on net revenue of $4.99 billion for the year ended January 28, 2023.


At the end of the fourth quarter there were a total of 310 Aerie and Offline (its activewear label) stores in operation. The company explained that the total includes Aerie stand alone locations, Offline stand alone locations and “Aerie/Offline side-by-side locations,” which are located next to AEO apparel stores. —NM
