According to Joey Cohen, vice president of National Mill Industry, which produces intimate apparel under the Carnival Creations label; “The best way to set yourself apart in shapewear, and in every market, is to see what is out there, and try to improve upon it. The best way to figure that out is through customer feedback.”
He estimated that approximately 35 percent of the Carnival Creations line currently consists of shapewear, with an emphasis on seamless styles since these are increasingly popular. “Seamless or ‘smoothing’ shapewear has been and will continue to be very hot,” he said. “In general, women are trying to find undergarments of all types that don’t show through and make them look sleeker.”
He predicts that “more and more people will get into the shapewear market over the next few years. As this happens, prices will continue to come down and consumers will get more for their money, especially in seamless santoni shapewear. I believe the manufacturers will continue to try and find more innovative ways to give the consumer more control with the same types of garments through new processes and materials.”
