Also hot in the dancewear realm are themed costume sets that are skin bearing and can be easily peeled off.” She sees sets that incorporate faux fur or marabou as off-trend, since “this was a seasonal trend that worked well for the December holidays.” Styles that are persistently popular are the “metallic fabrics and animal prints [that] always make their way into our dancewear and clubwear lines, as they are daring, eye-catching and can be sophisticated or sexy (or both!) The versatility of these fabrications allow them to persist season after season in both the exotic dance realm and the club realm.” Among Dreamgirl’s best-selling styles in clubwear and dancewear are the Showstopper (5562); a ombre black and gold sequined strapless dress with patent leather belt and matching thong; the Hot Wired dress (6367), a couture-inspired shimmer black and silver zig zag knit midriff-baring dress with halter ties, attached silver belt and matching thong; and the Versatile Vixen dress (6332), available in black and hot pink, which Hovsepian called “one of our versatile styles that features over seven looks in one dress!” In new developments, Dreamgirl has launched a separate section in its 225-page 2010-2011 catalog dedicated exclusively to dancewear ”in order to better serve the exotic dancer niche for buyers.” This includes 13 new dancewear styles. The company has also launched a 2010-2011 clubwear collection with eight new styles and five preexisting best sellers.
