roma costume

Sam Fard, president of Roma Costumes, believes the key to the company’s success in the dancewear and clubwear categories “is our excellent quality, fashionable fit and ability to deliver immediately.” The Burbank, Calif-based company produces over 250 dancewear and clubwear styles, and the category makes up for an ample 45 percent of total company sales. Styles that continually remain popular are its rhinestone dancewear and basic mix and match dancewear. Best-selling styles are the White and Silver Sequin Dress (Style 2874); the Black Lace Up Dress (2872); the Lame and Sequin Set (2873); the Sequin and Lame Mini Dress (2867); the Sequin Dress (2872SQ); and the School Girl Set (4217, 4218 and 4219). This year the company will introduce a new dancewear catalog, and a new clubwear catalog with a combined 90 or so total styles, in addition to preexisting popular styles. In trends, Fard sees sequins and fishnets as current, commenting: “We continue to introduce cutting edge fashions using unique sequins and the introduction of fishnet and unique styles that Roma is known for producing.” He sees large polka dots as going out of style in dancewear and clubwear. Over the years, Fard has seen the dancewear market explode. “20 years ago when we started in the dancewear business, there were very few manufacturers of dancewear and clubwear, whereas today the market has flourished with manufacturers, which has made us strive to continue with the quality of our products,” he said. “One of the big pluses for us includes manufacturing our products in the USA. This, along with our fast turnaround on orders, has allowed us to continue to provide quality to our long-term customers as well as new customers.”
