Penny and Tom Dombrowski cover both the wholesale and retail ends of the dancewear industry with the distribution of their wholesale line, Blue Orchid Exoticwear, and their two retail outposts. The Dombrowskis opened their first store in 2004 in Tucson, Arizona. Shortly after, they opened a Phoenix location in 2005. With each store reaching close to 1,000 square feet in size, the couple is not only able to retail dancewear from their Blue Orchid line, but they can also present lines from a host of the industries sexiest designers and manufacturers.

"The most requested brand is mainly ours," said Penny Dombrowski who has dedicated 65 percent of their stores' space to Blue Orchid Exoticwear's wholesale product.

"A lot of girls like Hot Sauce Style and Roma Bikini for Halloween costumes," said Penny.

Penny noted that her customer base is made up of exotic dancers looking for seductive clubwear and costumes."There are some Halloween costumes that offer more coverage but the girls don't want that," she said. "Customers around the Halloween season come in with requests for Leg Avenue and Rubies' styles such as pirates, schoolgirls and nurses."

Lines carried at Blue Orchid Exoticwear tend to mirror the streetwear and apparel fashions of the season. For the spring, the Dombrowskis bring in a lot of florals and bright colors, while the winter season does well with metallics and darker shades. The Tucson store's best-selling styles include hoodies, short sets and rompers while in Phoenix, Penny sees more gowns and dresses sold. She believes the difference is due to the tighter dress code restrictions in the Phoenix area clubs.

Dancers can also find an array of accessories at Blue Orchid Exoticwear. The store carries hosiery from Leg Avenue and Sky Hosiery, shoes from Ellie, and rhinestone jewelry from Desire Fashions.

Providing dancers with a comfortable and friendly place to shop ranks high for the Dombrowskis.

"Our main focus is our customers," said Penny. "That's what makes our business. We try to listen to them and see what they want or what they'd like to see in the store. Our stock is tailored to the people that come into the store. Your customers are what makes you-that's the most important thing."
