(Filed Under Fashion News). The Underfashion Club, a not-for-profit charity supporting education in the intimate apparel industry, hosted their annual holiday party Tuesday, Dec 2 from 5:30-9:00pm at the National Arts Club in New York, NY.
Program Committee Co-Chair, Roslyn Harte, described the purpose of the event as "To come together for the holidays and make donations to local charities: the Friends of Saint Francis, City Meals on Wheels, and the New York Foundling Hospital, all of which we have supported for over 25 years."
Representatives from each charity attended the party and spoke to the audience about how the money would be used. Beth Shapiro from City Meals on Wheels explained that: "all of the money will go towards feeding people, which is especially important in our current economic time."
Club President Barry Ross advised that, in addition to enjoying food, drink, and music, "We asked every person who attended the party to bring a wrapped gift for an infant, child, or pre-teen for distribution through the New York Foundling Home, which provides services to at-risk children."
Students from the Fashion Institute of Technology were also in attendance. Through Eurovet, the organizer of the Paris lingerie shows, intimate apparel design student Claire Sanders will be attending the 2009 January Paris Show.
The night also included a "festive holiday panty" design contest, which Nicole Rendone of Ariela-Alpha International LLC won. The comedic duo of Silvia Harven and Antony Jacobs contributed to the atmosphere of good cheer.
Attendees also participated in a raffle for gift certificates donated by Wolfgang Steakhouse, Gramercy Park Flower Shop, and Irmat Pharmacy.
