As a result of stronger-than-expected sales in Portugal, Brazilian shapewear and lingerie brand Plié has announced the launch of its first purpose-built European website, which includes all Plié collections, sales agents, store finder and feedback pages, in addition to an up-to-date gallery of the latest styles and trends.

“Our growth in Portugal has more than exceeded expectations,” said Ellie de Souza Cruz Pearce, managing director for the company covering Europe, Africa, Middle East and Asia. “We started in the spring of 2008 dispatching from our Plié European offices in Shropshire, England. We’re already gaining real presence in boutiques across the whole country, and we’ve adjusted our growth target for the next year upwards to 30 percent.”

Currently, the company boasts approximately 130 outlets in Portugal, with a network of five sales agents that are adding accounts on a weekly basis. As a result of the expansion, Plié plans to open new offices in the country in order to honor the 48-hour delivery promise they already have in the UK.

“Same-day dispatch and never running out of stock are hallmarks of the Plié brand, so the strategy with each European territory is to have well-placed centers that can deliver on that promise,” said John Pearce, Plié’s UK-based sales and marketing director. “We have plans to have the office/depot set up by October of this year and be fully staffed by Christmas.”

Plié’s products are currently offered at over 500 outlet retailers and are also on QVC The Shopping Channel in the UK.
