(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Ricky's NYC will be opening its 20th permanent location in Manhattan by September 15th. This expansion is part of CEO and president Todd Kenig's plan to open up four to five stores in the U.S. each year. "We plan to open up another one or two in 2009, and another four to five in 2010," he said.
The newest Ricky's will be located on 17th Street and 8th Avenue in Manhattan and will occupy 2,600-square-feet of space. In addition, this Halloween season Kenig plans on opening 20 pop-up locations in Manhattan from 125th Street all the way down to Wall Street.
In fact, Kenig said in the 20 temporary stores that they are opening, they are looking to put in permanent Ricky's and that he chose locations which he felt a regular Ricky's could thrive in. "That's why we took 20 temporary stores in New York pinpoint areas where we thought we should be," he said. In addition, Kenig is currently looking for deals in Brooklyn and Queens, as well as throughout Manhattan.
In additional news, for the upcoming season, Ricky's will be debuting their own line of costumes, which Kenig described as "cutting edge." There will be approximately five to six costumes that reflect current events in the news. "And if something happens in the news from now until October 1st, that will be a costume that we will make," said Kenig. "If there's another Joe the Plumber before Halloween, we will have it."
