(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Sleepwear company Bedhead, mainly known for its comfy cotton and flannel pajama sets, has now launched it's first stretch collection with styles made from 95 percent cotton and 5 percent Lycra. This collection boasts a more affordable price point than many of the company's traditional designs.
The new stretch line features lots of "mommy-and-me" matching pj sets, with a couple of selection for boys. "This is the very first time we've ever done stretch," said JoAnne Grazzini, director of sales. "We've been working a long time to perfect it, and I think in the world of stretch, no one has a printed stretch quite like we do, or a as nice a cotton as we do."
Styles are available in XS through 3X, and come in three prints: pink cheetah, turquoise butterflies on green ground, and a multi-colored heart print. Wholesale prices range from $48 to $59 for regular sizes, and plus is an additional $10. Bedhead's normal wholesale price point is $69, so this line falls in between the brand's cotton/sateen price point and the flannel price point.
The stretch line has been previewed by many of Bedhead's major accounts, including Sleepyheads.com, who already bought half of the line, said Grazzini. "This economy is really forcing us to think outside of our comfort zone and work on developing stretch, plus size, maternity and kids of course," she said. "The way things are already going, I predict next spring for 2010, at least 20 percent of our collection will be stretch. It's going to be very big for us."
Because of the economy, Bedhead has also recently launched a new program: Bedhead Basics, which features the brand's classic pajamas at an even lower price point: $42 wholesale. "The pajamas have the same roomy design and prints designed by Renee Claire—minus all the ultra-fancy piping and pocketing. It's really cute, and it's going to appeal to a lot of people who couldn't afford Bedhead before, but now can," said Grazzini.
