Caro Appointed To Boost Sales


(Filed Under Fashion News). Ivan Caro has been announced as the newest member of Underwear Station, a Colombian intimate apparel company based in Miami. Caro was appointed to the position of sales manager, and with his help, the company plans on launching their first women's lingerie brand named Matisse Lingerie. The line will be launched at the AmericasMart show in Atlanta this upcoming January.

According to Joel Gandara, the company's owner, Caro was hired because he has nearly two decades of experience in the women's lingerie business and such experience will "help us take it to the next level with sales."

Prior to Underwear Station, Caro worked at New Concepts as a sales manager. Before that, he served as vice president at AB Underwear. In his new position, Caro will be primarily working with the Matisse brand, but he will be involved in other areas of Underwear Station as well.

Although Gandara claims Matisse Lingerie is created for women in general and not for a specific type of woman, his research suggests that the brand is targeting the "professional, upscale, elegant and feminine woman" who does not want to settle for basics. The line is called Matisse after French artist Henri Matisse who is known for his sophisticated use of color in art. Matisse Lingerie represents "beauty and femininity" with "soft and light-weight materials, combined with a superior quality of fabrics and attention to detail." The Matisse Lingerie line is expected to retail in the range of $45 to $50.

While some may argue that the economy is not in the right state to launch a new line, according to Underwear Station, their sales have tripled in the last year to where the monthly sales are around $100,000.

Underwear Station also has two other lines: Joe Snyder, a men's underwear line, and Gigo, a men and women's line. The company's products are available at a variety of stores, both retail and online. Some of these include, Undergear.com, a men's store based in Pennsylvania; Drake's, a store that targets gay men; and International Jock, a men's store based in Los Angeles.
