(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Medima, a German intimates brand which claims to be “the world leading manufacturer of angora underwear,” is returning to Curve New York for the second time in February 2023.

The business dates back to the early 1930’s, and focused from the start on angora, the wool shorn from long haired rabbits. Other natural and sustainable materials are utilized as well. Parent company Peters GmbH is a family owned business of which a third generation member, Tobias Katz, is CEO.

The extensive Medima underwear collection “offers high-quality and exclusive thermal underwear with natural fibers such as angora, wool, cashmere or silk,” explained Katz in response to questions from BODY. "In order to guarantee the very high laundry quality, all Medima products are carefully manufactured in small batches Also offered is “a large number of different warming socks with the natural fiber angora in its range: from classic warming socks to bed socks and overcoat socks with slip stoppers.”

Another Medima segment produces a variety of “angora warmers,” designed for different parts of the body. “The natural hollow fibers of angora hair store the warmth evenly at the sensitive parts of the body. This keeps the muscles supple and the joints flexible.” Katz said that U.S. retail prices across the collections are expected to range from $19 to $120 for various styles.

U.S. retailers should be interested in the brand, which is currently not wholesaled in North America, because of its emphasis on and “huge wealth of experience” in natural and sustainable fibers; as well as the company’s “world class” production standards, Katz emphasized. He also pointed to Medima’s use of “special knitting machines for seamless knits,” and the control it maintains through its company-owned facilities in both Germany and Istanbul.
