(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). VX Intimate is expanding its foothold in the sexy market with its new faux leather collection, which is also its first boxed lingerie line.
The New York-based company, which also makes classic pieces and bridal lingerie, revealed a line of boxed faux leather bustier sets, babydoll sets, teddies and other two-piece sets at the International Lingerie Show in September. The sets, which come in both missy and plus sizes, will begin shipping late this month.
"This is our first faux leather collection, since we are doing extremely well in our sexy lingerie line, especially in the plus sizes," said company president Sanna Nimmo. "Many of our customers are commenting that we have the best plus-size lingerie line with very high quality and competitive prices. We think adding the faux leather will give our customer more choices."
Sets in the VX Intimates faux leather collection retail from $12 to $22 and range in size from S-4X. Each is packaged in a red and black box with the VX Intimate logo and a photo of a model wearing the garments on the front.
The boxed collection puts the company in competition with major companies like Dreamgirl and Shirley of Hollywood, which have made boxed lines a focal point of their brands for several years. Nimmo said boxed lingerie sets have several advantages, including minimizing shelf space, easing the purchase process (especially for male customers) and presenting sexier lingerie more discretely, which can be attractive to both conservative retailers and shoppers.
Nimmo said her brand has an advantage over other boxed lines, because "[other lines] are very rarely available in plus."
"We wanted to do a boxed line for a long time," Nimmo said. "With the nice packaging and pretty pictures, it becomes a very good selling point for our customers."
