Caprice, Panamanian Brand, Seeks U.S. Sales

(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Caprice, a lingerie maker which claims to be the market leader in Panama, was at the recent Curve show in New York, looking to begin distribution in North America.

“Caprice is a family owned company and brand that knows and values quality products,” said Jose Gonzalez Porta, one of the owners, as he explained why American stores should be interested.

“As a family owned company we value relationships, trajectory and consistency over anything and this is one of the secrets to doing business. At Caprice you will be talking to the owners directly. We have dedicated our lives to this business. To find better ways to develop a high quality product with the highest standards to fit the needs of real women with real bodies. That’s why our brand goes from A-DD cups and 32-44 in size as well as S-3X briefs. We take pride in our work and designs. We believe buying a high quality bra or brief shouldn’t be expensive and Caprice will demonstrate just that.”

U.S. and Canadian retail price point for the bras, which are designed in Panama and produced in China, range from $35 to $60. Briefs range from $15 to $30. The collection “goes from classic products to trendy/sexy products without compromising fitting and comfort,” added the owner. “We offer more than 50 styles in our showroom. We try to supply an array of sizes, fabrics (cotton, Lycra, nylon, satin) and colors. This has been our recipe to be in the business for 50 plus years.”

“This brand started in 1967 when an immigrant from Cuba came to Panama. He noticed there was no women’s underwear brand from Panama and started his own brand. The design and production was done in Panama until the 1990’s when the production was outsourced but the design was and still remains in house. This brand went to be the market leader in Panama and sell in the top stores of Latin America in more than 10 countries.”

Caprice picked up “confirmed orders” from U.S. retailers at the Curve show and is currently sold in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Palestine, Bolivia, Aruba and Sint Maarten.
