(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Daisy Corsets reported strong Halloween sales for 2019, and predicted the holiday will generate great business next year as well.

“Since first opening our doors in 2010, Daisy Corsets has consistently grown its Halloween sales year after year,” declared co-owner Jennifer Reynolds, with 2019 the “strongest year yet.” She credits this success to the “ever-rising popularity of corsets, as well as booming consumer demand for DIY costumes--and a corset being the perfect base to start from.”

Reynolds noted that “preparation for Halloween starts earlier and earlier every year,” adding “retailers were in a panic to get corsets in their stores,” this year. “But by August, our production was already completely full. I’ve never experienced anything like this season. We had stores calling us that were selling our corsets as they were unpacking their shipments, wanting to place new orders the same day.” 

Reynolds continued, “demand from consumers for DIY costumes has grown exponentially, with many retailers seeing these type of sales far surpass their packaged costumes. A corset has proven to be a sales leader as the perfect starting point for this customer — and Daisy Corsets has been at the forefront of it.”

“What we sell the most of for Halloween are our standard corsets in strong, basic colors,” said Reynolds, adding that the availability of a wide array of materials gives retailers many options. “Satin, brocades, vegan leathers, metallics, lace and patent materials are all very popular.”

But the strongest trend right now? “Patent and PVC have been a huge hit in fashion and apparel this season, and that has continued into holiday and the winter season as well as Valentine’s Day. The popularity for those types of materials is going to remain strong for many seasons to come.” 

The functionality of corsets is another element of their popularity. “Our corsets are not only detailed and visually appealing, but corsets are, at their core, a shapewear product,” said Reynolds. “Our corsets are designed to accentuate someone’s figure. Pair that with hundreds of designs to choose from, and the consumer has the perfect piece to build virtually any costume from.”

She added that functionality translates into big sales, especially for the plus size market. “The nature of a corset makes them exceptionally flattering on plus size women, which accounts for a big part of our sales. We have dominated the plus size market for Halloween because of our extensive selection of plus size items. ALL of our corsets come sized up to 6X, something that most other costuming companies don’t offer.”

Daisy Corsets will be celebrating 10 years of business in 2020, and is expecting it to once again be a booming year. “The 2020 Halloween holiday is falling on a Saturday, which means BIG sales. Pair that with our 10 year anniversary, and we will be pulling out all the stops with our 2020 collection.”  

The company is creating a special Anniversary Collection. “You will see complete costumes as well as new takes on our core styles, with other fun and unique styles sprinkled in.” In the works is a “huge expansion of the top selling Body Harness line.” These accessorize with the corsets for unique costume looks.”

Reynolds advised stores to “PLAN EARLY!” for 2020, encouraging them to “get their orders in by May/June for a August/September delivery date. Every year, our biggest challenge is getting our retailers to get their orders in early. The earlier we get your order, the better we can plan production and make sure that you get your order when you want it. Once we get into peak Halloween season, which is August/September, production is already full and popular stock styles are already likely sold out for the season. 2019 is ending strong, but 2020 is already shaping up to be another monumental year for Daisy Corsets.”
