(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). At least one familly member behind the Cosabella brand and retail store is now an owner of the Journelle brand and its chain of four retail shops, one in Manhattan and one in Chicago.
The recent sale was confirmed by an industry source. In addition the Linkedin profile for Guido Campbello, son of Cosabella founders Valeria and Ugo Campello, now lists him as “co-CEO - Creative Director - (co-owner) Journelle” and lists the starting date of employment as July 2019. The Linkedin profile also lists him as continuing as “co-CEO - Creative Director” at Cosabella.
Last year, as reported exclusively by BODY, industry giant Triumph sold its almost 100% stake in Journelle to an independent group of investors. In recent months that group had been looking to find a new buyer.
Journelle was founded in Manhattan in 2007 by Claire Chambers, who eventually sold a “majority stake” to Triumph at the end of 2012. When it announced that deal, a company press release boasted Triumph’s involvement would “drive the successful expansion of the Journelle business model across the U.S.” Chambers added, “We have found a strong partner with whom we can set about to grow both our online and brick and mortar business.”
Yet the retailer’s only significant expansion in the years since was the opening the Chicago store at the end of 2015 and a Los Angeles branch in September, 2017. The California branch closed in 2018. Chambers resigned as CEO about three years ago. — NM
