(Filed Under wholesale Men's Underwear News). Nth Degree Underwear is a new men’s underwear brand from Canada. BODY publisher Nick Monjo interviewed the company’s Marin McGinnis after visiting the booth at the MAGIC Show in Las Vegas in February.
MONJO: Can you provide a bit of history and background for the company?
MCGINNIS: Nth Degree Underwear was founded in 2017. Principal is Nelson Lee. Nelson comes from a strong background in product design and fabric sourcing. Prior to starting Nth Degree, Nelson worked with Reigning Champ, Wings & Horns, and as a contractor for Arcteryx for almost seven years as production/factory manager in CYC Design.
MONJO: Are additional styles on the way in 2019?
MCGINNIS: Yes, keeping the line pretty tight to get going, but there will be a couple new styles for 2019. We will see a relaxed fit cut in our zinc infused Nomad fabric, and a new more athletic cut with a slight compression fit and made with a cool touch fabric.
MONJO: What makes your design concept better and/or different than what is out there?
MCGINNIS: What makes our design concept better and different than competitors is that we offer support without restriction. Our internal support is free floating because of how the pouch is suspended from the main body of the underwear. We are also the only men’s underwear to offer a proper relaxed fit that still offers internal support. It just feels better.
MONJO: Is your design patented?
MCGINNIS: Patent is pending, but should be completed this year.
MONJO: What stores carry the brand?
MCGINNIS: We are currently mostly in independent retail stores at the moment. In the U.S. our sales network continues to expand, we are expecting continued healthy growth in America. In Canada we’ve only had sales representation since fall 2018, but we’ve had good performance in that short time and we are expecting this trend to continue as brand awareness grows with both retailers and consumers.
MONJO: What is your strategy for expanding in the U.S. and Canada in 2019 and beyond?
MCGINNIS: Our strategy for continued expansion in both the U.S. and Canada is to strike a balance between continuing to work with and seek the best independent retailers, and working with the right bigger players and chain stores for their ability to grow volume and brand awareness on national and international levels.
MONJO: Who is the sales contact?
MCGINNIS: Marin McGinnis, (778) 995-0475, marin@mutinousmarketing.com.
