(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Aakar is an interesting new source for intimates, coming to the New York Curve for this first time this summer. The India-based supplier already has a U.S. distributor.
Aayuushi Agarwal founded the company in January 2017 to produce “lingerie, body suits, classic night suits, tops and shorts, nighties, gowns, robes, kaftans, kimonos, camisoles and shorts, pajamas, resort wear and loungewear.” And she has designed the company to be particularly attractive to the specialty retailer.
The firm does not sell direct to consumers in North America, nor does it sell on Amazon. Aakar will also private label small quantities for stores. For orders as small as 25 pieces per style and color (orders as low as $1500), a boutique can have a special collection with its own store brand. For orders with the Aakar label minimums are ten pieces per styles and color.
Wholesale price points range widely from $20 to $350 per garment, with recommended U.S. retail prices ranging from $50 to $2000. Aakar produces garment is a wide range of sizes, from small on up to 6XL for special orders. Shipment direct from India can arrive in 15-20 days from order, the designer noted.
Edna Turner-DeGeneste, who also owns the Unique Lingerie retail shop in Florida, is serving as the new brand’s U.S. agent. Not long ago she was searching for a private label supplier for her store. “Thats how I found Aakar,” she told BODY. “A company based in India that was willing to manufacture products for my business under my own label. Aakar manufacturers a wide array of different products at a reasonable minimum order quantity. This company has in house designers that will modify the product based on my requests. I initially bought a dozen pieces of their luxury collection months ago as a test and watched 80% of them disappear in under a month. These garments are so exquisite and elegant they reminded me of premium U.S. labels I have carried. Aakar will even produce my larger orders under my own label. If a customer likes the product they have to come back to us to buy more of it.”
Turner-DeGeneste noted that both she and designer Agarwal will be in the Curve booth later this month. Contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org or 352-629-5590. Contact at Aakar in India: Email: email@example.com; phone: +918961066841.
