New Las Vegas Lingerie Trade Show Announced

(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Altitude Intimates is a new Las Vegas lingerie trade show, launching April 3 and 4, 2017, sponsored by the newly formed Lingerie Industry Association (LIA). The event will be held in the Celebrity Ballroom of the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino.

BODY has confirmed that Coquette, Elegant Moments, Mapalé, Dreamgirl and Escanté will be exhibiting, with most of those also confirming that they will not have a second booth at the International Lingerie Show (ILS), which is scheduled to run concurrently, April 3-April 5 at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas.

Last June, ten lingerie companies announced they would not be exhibiting at the September 2016 ILS show. Also during the summer, Eric Ehrens, executive director of the LIA, and members of that same group of ten companies, moved to form the industry group. All those firms which have announced, in the past 24 hours, that the will be at the LIA show, are also among the ten firms that were not at the last ILS. Other brands that were not at the recent ILS include Hoss, Allure, Fantasy, Roma Costume and J. Valentine. Ehrens told BODY that some or all of those are expected to soon announce they will be at the new show. As we went to press we had not received comment from the five firms. (Note: Escanté styles were exhibited at the recent ILS by its independent rep, The Wells Group).

According to a press release from Coquette announcing its participation, "The Lingerie Industry Association sponsored event is to be preceded by an opening night party at Planet Hollywood on April 2nd.” It quotes Ehrens describing the show as an “industry event for the industry, by the industry. The Altitude Intimates Show will be buyer-centric event. It will focus on making the experience more pleasant, inviting and positive for the buyer by showcasing lingerie in a comfortable business working environment, as well as curate personal experiences with a well-produced fashion show, buyer reception, opening party and multiple seminars.”

Ehrens told BODY that those interested in learning more about the show should contact the director of the LIA, Crystin Ehrens, at Crystin@lingerieindustryassociation.com or 1-631-446-4666.

Jeff Yunis, owner of the ILS told BODY, “We will go ahead and build a bigger better show and continue to point out that these folks want to monopolize the market. We will continue to stress that no consumer comes into a store to buy one of their brands. All consumers want is a choice of quality merchandise. I can see us advertising to smaller companies,” adding that “ILS will not put them head to head with the big boys. The loss of dollars will hurt but the show will go on. I can’t see a buyer coming to Las Vegas to see them and not coming over to see us.”

Gene Newton, co-owner of Elegant Moments, stated in an email to BODY, “As you know we have been a supporter of the group of manufacturers that are planning this new show and feel this is the direction in which we need to go to insure a positive approach to the vicissitudes of our industry.” — NM
