Majamas Phases Out Non-organic, Adds Sleepwear

(Filed Under wholesale Maternity News). Due to the popularity of their organic styles introduced a year and a half ago, Majamas is in the process of phasing out all non-organic apparel in their basics maternity line.

“We currently still have some non-organic merchandise in stock with we are selling at marked-down prices, and all of the styles we offer will be organic from now on,” the company’s president, Germaine Caprio, said.

She was quick to add that none of the company’s apparel is made from bamboo, since according to her the process of making bamboo fabric is extremely harmful to the environment. Additionally, she is looking into eco-friendly packaging.

Organic maternity styles include the Easy Bra and the Buxom Bra, sold at Whole Foods stores in the Midwestern region for retail prices of $23 to $28. Other styles include the Cozy Cami, the Reverse Cami, the Original Nursing Tank, the Sleepy Dress and the Cozy Dress, running at a retail price range of $49 to $59. Sizes run from S to XL (the equivalent to bra sizes 29A to 44F). Majamas is currently in talks with Whole Foods merchandisers in Austin, Texas and California, and is hoping to expand their merchandise to Whole Foods stores out of the Midwest.

The company is also moving into the broader intimate apparel market with a regularly-sized sleepline, which they will hope to launch for Fall 2009. The as-of-yet unnamed collection is aimed at women from their mid-20s to mid-40s, and runs in sizes S to XL, as well as 2X in select styles. It is made from a moisture-wicking poly-spandex blend, and Caprio is currently looking for a manufacturer within the United States who produces recycled poly-spandex at an affordable price point.

Majamas is an Illinois-based company of maternity and sleepwear apparel made in the United States. For further information, call (708) 524-9668.
