(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). In conjunction with a new location in New Orleans, the Halloween & Party Expo has announced a “new and improved industrywide party” on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, as part of a collaboration with Party & Paper Retailer magazine.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 at New Orleans’ Generations Hall, one block away from the expo’s Ernest N. Morial Convention Center location. Generations Hall was built as a sugar refinery in the 1820s and has since been renovated into three uniquely decorated rooms with artwork showcasing the area’s history and culture of jazz music.
The Halloween & Party Expo Kickoff Party will replace the Costume Style Show as well as PPR magazine’s Industry Gala, which were staples of the show during its Houston run.
“The expo’s move to New Orleans is more than just a location change; it is a step forward for the industry,” the Halloween & Party Expo’s Jonathan Erwin said. “Rather than simply replicate the events we held in Houston, we decided to join forces with Party & Paper Retailer and reimagine an industrywide celebration.”
Instead of a staged style show, models wearing the latest costumes will mingle with guests while everyone enjoys New Orleans-themed entertainers and food and drink. Registered buyers get in free and receive drink tickets by showing their buyer badges, but attendance is capped at 1,200 people.
Exhibitors are encouraged to attend as sponsors by emailing pprads@partypaper.com. Sponsorship includes VIP access to the event and a chance to have live models showcase their products.
“Partygoers will be able to preview costumes, network with their peers, hit the dance floor and soak in New Orleans food and music in one great event,” Erwin stated.
