(Filed Under wholesale Activewear News). German lingerie maker Anita International has won the Red Dot Design Award for 2014 for its style 5537 DynamiX Star, an innovative, high-impact sports bra. Red Dot is an international product design prize.
Anita designer Katrin Prillwitz, who was the recipient of the 2011 Red Dot Design Award for the brand’s Momentum sports bra, scored another win with the DynamiX Star, which is slated for September 2014 shipping. The style’s X-shaped back creates a bounce-control effect, and the bra’s strap system and seamless terrycloth cups are separated from the skin by a transparent mesh to keep wearers cool.
The bra comes in peacock/anthracite and white/metallic combinations in sizes 32-40, A-E; 32-38 F; and 32-36 G. The design will be honored in front of 1,200 guests at the Aalto Theatre in Essen, Germany, on July 7.
“Anita with its Active sports bras is a market leader in the worldwide specialized trade,” the company said in a release announcing the award. “The DynamiX Star is a clear sign that Anita stands out to other manufacturers by a brilliant high-tech quality as well as a dynamic feminine design.”
The company told BODY that though Anita Active is one of firm’s youngest divisions, it is “growing significantly.”
“At Anita, activewear accounts for one-third of our U.S. sales, where our product lines retail for $60 to $75,” according to care division manager Theresa Antretter.
Bestselling items include the 5527 Extreme Control and the 5529 Momentum, the previous Red Dot Design Award winner. Antretter attributes the products’ success to consumers’ awareness of Anita’s technical fabrics.
