(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Netherlands-based lingerie brand Marlies Dekkers has unveiled the Couture Collection, a Joan of Arc-inspired line for Fall/Winter 2014, handmade from luxurious materials and designed to be provocative and unapologetically sexy.

The collection consists of two styles, the Heroic Journey and the Victory. The Heroic Journey was inspired by Marlies Dekkers’ interpretation of Joan of Arc’s evolution from a young girl to a woman driven by her beliefs to fight and inspire an army. The bodysuit, bras and bottoms are printed with a delicate design in a metal-inspired, purple-brown microfiber. Armor-inspired chains are overlain on the bras and the top of the bodysuit, while the phrase “dare to be — give yourself to yourself” is printed on custom-made, woven shoulder straps.

Joan of Arc’s bravery in the face of her tragic death and her public recognition and canonization inspired the Victory, constructed with gold leather. Necklines on the bras and bodysuit are adorned with fleur de lis symbols and tassels, and the gusset is printed with the phrase, “I am not afraid — I was born to do this.”

“In my new position as creative director, I am able to give my undivided attention to creating trendsetting and distinctive designs,” Marlies Dekkers said in a statement. “The Couture Collection gives me a platform to explore the boundaries of what is possible in terms of the latest innovations and materials.”

The Marlies Dekkers brand, established in 1993, creates lingerie, loungewear, swimwear and accessories.
