(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Espiral the Florida-based lingerie firm (which also produces a separate AM:PM collection of beach and resort wear) has been growing so rapidly that it can’t keep its catalog from expanding even though its owners try.
“We did our best not to grow the collection,” admitted Angela Escobar, who with her husband and co-owner Pablo Tobon run the firm. But grow it did, the Espiral catalog expanding from about 374 pages last year to 408 for 2014. Within, some bestsellers from previous years join a multitude of new designs.
The new catalog was distributed at the recent Salon de la Lingerie in Paris and has been mailed to buyers in the U.S.
“We increased our segment of dance wear,” explained Escobar. “And there is more of the rave wear.” Last year the company photographed the latter category in the dark to highlight the black-light-reactive portions of the outfits. And this helped boost sales dramatically. “The rave wear always does well for us,” particularly with bringing in new customers. She added that the rave collection for 2014 features new fabrics and designs. “It’s not just about the glow, it’s also about styles they are looking for and growing with them.”
In all the rave section of the catalog grew from about 25 designs to a total of 40 for 2014. Prices are “competitive but not trashy,” said Escobar, indicating that her philosophy for the entire line is not to be the very lowest-priced supplier in the market.
“You have to use good fabrics” and the lingerie has to perform she emphasized.
The company will continue to carry bedroom costumes but no party costumes. About ten styles of leggings have been added to the Espiral catalog (and moved out of the AM:PM catalog). One area where Escobar has cut back somewhat for 2014: babydolls.
The new catalog also includes an expanded array of models. “We are expecting to hear great comments.”
