Scanty Consolidates, Plans Virtual Showroom


(Filed Under Fashion News). Rumors abounded at this year’s Curve show that the Scanty brand had closed down. However, a consultant for company, Susan White, confirmed with BODY that the brand is still up and running.

They have moved all operations based out of their California, with the exception of design, over to their New York office, and are currently interviewing a new sales team. Additionally, they are holding off on launching any new products until the Spring 2010 season.

White sited the poor economy and “a few bumps in the road” as the company’s reason for consolidating. She added that they will keep a Los Angeles public relations firm, and are “still an L.A company.” She added that the purpose of the consolidation is to focus on their products and their boutique customers “who have been particularly hard-hit this year.”

In other news, Scanty will be launching a virtual showroom for their retail customers within the next few weeks.
