(Filed Under Fashion News). The sixth edition of Texworld USA, held February 3rd through the 5th at New York City’s Javits Convention Center, housed far less attendees and exhibitors this year, but participators’ reactions to the event and expectations for the upcoming July edition were favorable to say the least.
“My team and I thought the show was great,” said attendee Kecia Manuel, fabric r&d manager for Victoria’s Secret Pink production. “We like the trend preview section and got a chance to meet with some new suppliers.”
This year’s show welcomed 2,031 attendees and 92 exhibitors from 13 countries, a significant drop from last year’s show, held July 14th through the 16th also at Javits, which housed 2,842 attendees and 176 exhibitors from 15 countries.
As a result of the damaged economy, a drop in attendance was no shocker and spirits remained high.
“The attendees at Texworld USA are good quality as they are actual buyers,” said Robert Fishman, owner of Pulver Importing USA, a wholesale supplier of machine cut crystal stones including Swarvoski crystals. “Texworld helped us to connect with many customers we haven’t seen in a while. It also helped us to set future appointments with new prospects in their offices to show our new line.”
Fabric buyers that attended the event included representatives from: Abercrombie & Fitch; American Eagle Outfitters; Betsey Johnson; Bebe; Calvin Klein; Gap; Liz Claiborne; Macy’s; Natori; Nordstrom; Target; Urban Outfitters; Wal-Mart and more.
The seventh edition of Texworld will be held July 14th through the 16th at the Javits Convention Center.
