(Filed Under wholesale Hosiery News). Hyp has signed a licensing deal to produce socks and hosiery with “icons and images” of the Irish-British boy band One Direction. Global Merchandising Services Inc. acted as the band’s agent in the deal with Hypnotic Hats, Ltd., which produces a variety of accessories, underwear and T-shirts under a wide variety of company owned and licensed brands.
The new line will include shorties, knee highs and assorted fashion hosiery that will be sold at department stores, mass and specialty retailers this holiday season. According to a company release, “One Direction has over three million Twitter followers and a debut album that has gone gold and platinum across the globe, and continues to dominate the charts.” The statement also notes that “One Direction has sold more than 6.7 million singles and 2.7 million albums worldwide.”
“Hyp is thrilled to add 1D to our family of licenses,” said Howard Levy, president of Hyp. “They have a tremendous following across all ages, and we look forward to covering the feet of all of their rabid fans.” Some of the brands displayed on Hyp’s current web site include Mudd, Baby Phat, Disney, Pink Cookie (company owned), Speed Racer, GM and Raggedy Ann. The firm was founded in 1991.
