(Filed Under wholesale Hosiery News). French Curve was back at both MAGIC and Project in August with its collection of over 100 designs of socks, tights and leggings, some in basic colors, but many with dainty feminine or floral designs. Styling is classy, while prices are modest (ankle socks wholesale for $5 to $6; over the knee socks are $8.50 to $10 and stretch leggings wholesale for $10 and go up to $16 for Italian wool cashmere blends).
Owner Kaiser Sharif attributes his success to his “unique designs and high quality” and his ability “at the same time to [keep] prices very good.” He added his designs are “sophisticated and edgy and modern.”
Retail customers include “high end boutiques and chain stores,” says Sharif (he mentioned LF Stores of New York). He also said he has done private label work for such clients as Free People and Bebe.
We liked a variety of designs and patterns, some featuring polka dots, snowflakes and several decorated with roses. One style was sheer with grey and pink roses; another cute ankle sock was white with pink flowers and light green roses and a ruffle edge. Wendy is the name of a style of mesh tights (in black or charcoal) with long-stemmed roses winding up the legs. They are made in Italy and wholesale for $12 (see photo).
French Curve is in its fourth year of shows. Sharif says Vegas is best for him, including MAGIC and Project, but he has also done Coterie, ENK, the accessory show and Intermezzo. He noted that he will soon be adding shawls and sweaters to his offerings.
