(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Major retailer Target announced it would open "The Shops at Target," a collection of boutiques offering limited-edition merchandise within its established stores.
"We’re building on a sense of discovery by offering our guests a chance to experience one-of-a-kind specialty stores and boutiques through collections that have been specifically tailored to their wants and needs," stated Brian Robinson of Target. The retailer also confirmed that it will be opening Apple boutiques in approximately 25 stores.
New shops will be introduced every two to four months, with the first batch opening May 6, 2012. The initial stores partnering with Target include San Francisco-based The Candy Store; Connecticut-based furniture store The Privet House; Boston-based pet accessory supplier Polka Dog Bakery; Aspen, Colo.-based beauty shop The Cos Bar; and Miami-based apparel, lingerie and nightwear store The Webster House. The shops will be open for six weeks, and the affordably priced products will also be available on Target.com.
Minneapolis-based Target Corp. operates over 1,800 stores across the United States.
