(Filed Under retail Lingerie News). Soma Intimates has announced a new bra donation campaign as part of its "Giving Is Beautiful" initiative to collect intimate apparel for survivors of domestic violence.
The retailer is accepting both new and gently at all Soma Intimates stores across the United States. Working with The National Network to End Domestic Violence, which represents over 2,000 U.S. shelters, each Soma Intimates store will choose a local women’s shelter to be the recipient of the donations. The drive officially kicked off Jan. 12 and will continue through Feb. 26.
"A bra is one of the least donated, but most in-demand items for women in need," stated brand president Laurie Van Brunt. "The simple act of donating a bra helps women to focus on rebuilding and recovering from the hardships of domestic violence. Over four million women need the assistance of a shelter annually and many come with only the clothes on their backs."
This is Soma Intimates’ fourth biannual charity bra drive, which has resulted in the donation of 145,000 bras to date. "Our goal for this bra donation is to hit the milestone of a quarter-million bras," Van Brunt said.
Soma Intimates, a division of Chico’s FAS, Inc., operates 182 boutiques and outlets across the U.S. For more information about the campaign, visit www.soma.com.
