(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Costume producer Disguise, Inc. unveiled several new licenses and looks for the 2012 Halloween season at the seventh annual International Halloween Show in New York City.
The company, celebrating its 25th year in the industry, told BODY Magazine that next season will see costumes for "The Amazing Spider-Man," the reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise starring Andrew Garfield as the masked webslinger and Emma Stone as love interest Gwen Stacy that hits theaters July 3, 2012. The costume for Gwen Stacy features a lab coat and skirt set with subtle spider designs hidden alongside pockets and within herringbone print. Classic Spider-Man looks for women also include a feminine version of the hero’s costume that offers coverage with a removable shrug, but stays sexy with a keyhole neckline.
Another big summer superhero movie, "The Avengers," slated for a May 5 release, sees costumes for a variety of popular superheroes, including a sleek black catsuit costume and accompanying red wig for the Black Widow, played by Scarlett Johansson.
Disguise also holds the license for "Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery," which celebrates its 15th anniversary in 2012, and unveiled a sexy look for women with its Fembot costume from the 1997 film: a gauzy pink negligee with a fluffy bra that features guns in the center of each cup.
Many other women’s Halloween styles went for looks hearkening back to childhood. Licensed Disney costumes include Princesses Snow White, Cinderella, Belle from "Beauty and the Beast" and Aurora from "Sleeping Beauty," while Disney villain looks include Cruella DeVille from "101 Dalmatians," Ursula from "The Little Mermaid," and new for this year, Maleficent from "Sleeping Beauty" and the evil queen from "Snow White." Disguise’s Fabulous Flirts line encompasses costumes based on classic board games including Monopoly and Operation. New licenses include "My Little Pony" and "Care Bears" looks, while top-selling costumes continue to include looks from "Power Rangers" and "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."
Disguise, Inc. is a subsidiary of JAKKS Pacific, Inc., based in Malibu, Calif.
