(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Nancy Ann Barry, fashion designer for lingerie maker Jacalyn E. S. Bennett and Company, passed away after being struck by a U-Haul truck in a tailgating accident at the Harvard-Yale football game on Nov. 19. She was 30 years old.
Barry graduated from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design with honors and had previously designed for New Balance before taking the position at Newburyport, Mass.-based Bennett and Company. "She was taken from us all too soon," said Jacalyn Bennett. "She was a wonderful member of our creative team."
To honor Barry’s memory, Bennett created The Nancy Ann Barry Scholarship Fund for Young Women, an academic scholarship to be awarded to a worthy recipient at Barry’s alma mater. "This will help financially challenged women have the art education that their talent deserves," said Bennett. "It is my hope that donations will be made to this important cause in remembrance of such an amazing and talented young woman."
To contribute to the fund, make a check payable to Massachusetts College of Art and Design Foundation, and write "The Nancy Ann Barry Scholarship Fund" on the memo line. Contributions should be mailed to the Mass. Art Foundation, 621 Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02115.
