(Filed Under wholesale Activewear News). U.S. retailing giant Macy’s has announced the launch of an exclusive activewear line, Ideology, to hit 160 stores in spring 2012.

Ideology will consist of sports bras, sweatshirts and pants, jackets, and performance tops and shorts for a retail price range of approximately $8 to $58. Macy’s is aiming to reach customers in their mid-30s who incorporate fashionable sportswear into their workouts and weekend activities.

The retailer has tapped Cheryl Burke of "Dancing with the Stars" fame to promote the line, including in-store appearances, ad and social media campaigns and integrating the line into the next season of the popular television show.

Based on the line’s performances, Macy’s will expand Ideology into 300 stores by 2013. The company currently operates approximately 850 locations.
