(Filed Under retail Lingerie News). Upscale department store Bloomingdale’s announced the opening of a Glendale, Calif. location in fall 2013.
The new location will be a 120,000-square-foot, two-level space in the Glendale Galleria shopping center and will employ approximately 175 people.
"Bloomingdale’s business in Southern California has developed rapidly since we opened our first store in the Los Angeles area in 1996," said Michael Gould, Bloomingdale’s chairman and C.E.O. "Glendale Galleria will be our eighth store in the market."
The opening of this store will mark the retailer’s first full-price store opening in two years. Bloomingdale’s last full-price store opened in Santa Monica, Calif. in August 2010. Since then, the company was focused on its Bloomingdale’s Outlet store concept, opening four 25,000-square-foot locations in Florida, New Jersey and Virginia. New York-based Bloomingdale’s opened its first store in 1872.
