(Filed Under retail Lingerie News). Fort Worth, Texas retailer The Velvet Box is the subject of a lawsuit filed by the owner of the Alliance Town Center, the shopping center where the store is located.
The lawsuit alleges that the store violated lease terms by operating as a sexually oriented business. The Velvet Box contests these claims.
A statement from the Forth Worth Chamber of Commerce says The Velvet Box does not fit the city’s criteria of an adult store and commended owner Marcelle LeBlanc for joining the chamber and becoming involved in the city’s business community.
The Velvet Box sells lingerie, hosiery, accessories, books, bachelorette party supplies, and adult novelties and toys. The store is located at 9100 North Freeway, Suite 124 in the Sam Moon Shopping Center, part of the Alliance Town Center of Fort Worth. A second Velvet Box location recently opened at 2917 Morton St. in Fort Worth.
