(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). French lingerie chain Etam saw third quarter sales fall 3.8 percent to €269.4 million, or $371 million, due to currency depreciation and a weak end-of-season turnout from shoppers.
By region, sales were down 7.2 percent in Europe, while sales in China rose 3.9 percent to €89.3 million, or $124 million.
"The Etam Group has geared itself up to deal with uncertain consumption in Europe in a challenging economic climate and to benefit from China’s growth," the company wrote in a statement. "It is taking the commercial and management steps needed to uphold all its commitments."
The Etam Group currently operates 4,466 locations in 39 countries around the world.
