(Filed Under retail Lingerie News). Originally imagined as a collaboration for J. Crew’s New York City Bridal Boutique, Cosabella’s exclusive intimate apparel collection for the retail chain has appeared in J. Crew stores everywhere.
J. Crew described the Cosabella brand as "the Michelangelo of unmentionables" and announced to their customers that "if you’re not already a devotee, their deliciously comfy, light-as-air intimates and kid-in-a-candy-store color palettes will make you a convert."
The 2011 collection features updates of some of Cosabella’s bestselling intimate styles, redesigned and created in specific colorways exclusively for J. Crew, including the Marni strapless bra; Stella soft lace bra and low-rise thong; Soire ruched camisole, underwire bra, low-rise thong and hotpant; and Never Say Never Cutie thong. In addition to standard colors like black and nude, Cosabella for J. Crew intimates are available in exclusive colors like dark charcoal, neon green and neon coral. Some colors match J. Crew’s apparel colors, including sweet orchid and sweet moss. Styles retail between $19 and $85.
Cosabella for J. Crew may be indicative of a larger trend for the multi-brand specialty retailer J. Crew Group. While not producing an exclusive collection, J. Crew’s sister chain Madewell has begun carrying Honeydew Intimates items, including bralettes, thongs and mesh boyshorts retailing for $14 to $32.
The J. Crew Group, Inc. was founded in 1983 when the first J. Crew catalog launched.
