(Filed Under Fashion News). English-Swiss designer Maxine Wattam was awarded the Special Lingerie Prize at the 18th International Festival of Young Fashion Designers in Dinard, France.
The Special Lingerie Prize, new at the festival this year, celebrates creation and innovation in a lingerie collection. Wattam’s Kinbaku collection is inspired by the aesthetics of Japanese bondage and uses elastic straps, metals and microtulle to create handcrafted body-binding pieces with minimal coverage.
As the prize recipient, Wattam was awarded €5,000 (approximately $7,166), plus lace yardage worth €3,000 ($4,300) and a stand at the Mode City trade show. The award was sponsored by the Allande Lingerie brand, lace manufacturers the Noyon-Darquer Group, the French Federation of Lace and Embroidery, Mode City and the Grand Hôtel Barrière.
