(Filed Under Licensing News). The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) has named Marathon Projects its licensing agent.
Through the agreement, Marathon will develop and manage a program of licensing the PADI brand for about 16 categories, including swimwear; beach apparel; footwear; Halloween costumes; waterproof watches; cameras; luggage; and lottery tickets.
“As the world’s largest and most respected scuba diving training organization, PADI has become synonymous with the sport of scuba diving and dive travel,” said Craig Kalter, president of Marathon Projects. “By developing a complimentary line of licensed PADI branded products, our objective is to extend the aura of the PADI brand to other recreational water and beach-related products.”
Kristin Valette, vice president of marketing and communications for PADI Americas, added: “The emphasis on professional training and safety for scuba diving has contributed to PADI becoming the most respected and successful recreational scuba diving and snorkeling organization in the world. Through our PADI licensing program we look forward to partnering with other companies in order to leverage these strengths and further the awareness of the sport of scuba diving that [we] has established.”
