(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Dynashape Intima already produced just about every type of intimate apparel, and wanted to expand into related categories. So at this winter’s Halloween & Party Expo show in Houston, the 28-year-old wholesaler introduced its first line of sexy costumes under the Honey B label.
According to Stewart Kawamura, vice president of operations for the company, the company designed Honey B to round out its corporate portfolio. “With our experience in the intimate apparel market, costumes were a natural choice for us,” he said. “We incorporated the components used in our lingerie; there are molded, padded corsets, for example. We are targeting consumers and retailers who want more bang for their buck by offering quality for an affordable price.”
Honey B’s 53 costumes—most of which run from S to XL with about a dozen available up to 2X—wholesale from $12 to $28. Although Kawamura acknowledged that many costume competitors also work to keep prices down, since Dynashape owns its factories, the company has more control over meeting high-quality standards at low prices.
Although Honey B is shipping to stores in July for a Halloween launch, the company intends it a year-round line, with some styles intended solely for the bedroom.
And although sexy, Kawamura described the line as “middle of the road” in this market. “We’re not as risqué as some other companies: Honey B includes all of the sexy staples, like pirates, maids and schoolgirls, but they are designed in a tasteful way,” he said. “There was an across the board acceptance of the line at the Halloween & Party Expo. The comments we kept hearing was the price is great and so is the quality.”
