(Filed Under wholesale Maternity News). Destination Maternity’s goal is to ease pregnant womens’ beach anxieties with its A Pea in the Pod and Motherhood Maternity 2011 swimwear collections.
“Bathing suit shopping is not easy for anyone,” said Lisa Hendrickson, chief merchandising officer of both brands. “But with our selection of styles, prints, fit options and knowledgeable fit specialists, mom-to-be’s experience will be one she might actually enjoy.”
In order to offer improved fit and bust shaping, both brands added cups in swimwear tops, and embellished suits with side ruching to accommodate the pregnant woman’s belly while preventing “bagging or sagging.” Included are bikinis, hipsters, briefs, one-pieces and tankinis.
And to offer fashion-forward design, the swimwear collections feature trend-driven details and prints, like stripes, polka dots, tie-dye and metallic, as well as sequins, ruffles and hardware.
Motherhood Maternity, the more affordable brand, markets swimwear for approximately $16.98 to $35 retail in sizes S through XL. A Pea in the Pod’s swimwear retails for approximately $69 to $155.
Destination Maternity is the world’s largest designer and retailers of maternity apparel, with 1,701 retail locations in North America, in addition to store franchise agreements and product supply relationships in India and the Middle East.
