(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). Aqua Beachwear thinks it has found the key to offering online swimwear shoppers personalized fit and style.
The Florida-based online and brick and mortar swimwear retailer has launched “Smart Sizing,” an online tool aimed at helping each woman find swimwear that fits her body type and personal style.
The consumer who clicks on the “Smart Sizing” tab of the Aqua website (AquaBeachwear.com) is taken through a four-step process in which she is asked to identify a bra size and pant size. Other questions include those about whether she identifies as junior, contemporary or classic, and whether she prefers minimal, moderate or maximum coverage. The website then shows her pieces that it claims are “sure to fit you.”
According to Mary Bauer, president of Aqua Beachwear, the “Smart Sizing” system simplifies the difficult process of finding a well-fitting suit. “Finding the right size and fit in a swimsuit is a struggle for most women; an experience just a bit more pleasant, but not much, than having a root canal-until now,” she said. “Designers and manufacturers use a variety of non-standard size codes. The varying degrees of elasticity of the material as well as different support options only add to the frustration of the customer.””
“Smart Sizing” is also available at the companies 14 stores, which are located in resort areas of Florida, The U.S. Virgin Islands and Arizona.
In addition to its own line, Aqua Beachwear carries swimsuits and cover-ups by 23 brands including Betsey Johnson; Vitamin A; Gottex; Nautica; ABS; and Beach House.
