(Filed Under wholesale Lingerie News). Lauren Mandel, the president of White Saki, discussed new developments for her line during the recent International Lingerie Show in Las Vegas. "The latest is that we are beginning to do other cities," she said of her distinctive line of panties that feature colorful prints, each depicting a different New York City neighborhood. "We are working on L.A. and are going to do Paris, London and Tokyo. We are also planning to do Sydney and Melbourne."
The launch of the Paris design is expected to be in conjunction with a major retailer in that city. Mandel added that even though she is adding new city prints to her intimates, "European retailers seem to be fascinated with New York. It has a lot of appeal there."
Also in the works is the addition to the line of tank tops, thongs and loungewear as well as seamless tanks and panties. Some of the collection will include the city prints, some will include "other graphics, edgy prints," and still others will be un-adorned except for the White Saki logo.
To date the White Saki line is in several high-end boutiques around the country and is expected to open in several better department stores in the next few months.
"This is a brand that relates to people all over the world. We capture a feeling of a neighborhood and put it on clothing," Mandel said.
The New York neighborhood collection "has been really amazing for tourists who want to buy something that represents New York," she emphasized.
The current panty collection is retailed in pre-packs of three for $49.50. Boyshorts sell for $18 and tanks are $29.
"This is a lifestyle brand, which will include a wide variety of apparel," said Mandel. "It is our hope and expectation that we will also be able to license the brand to other categories in the near future. It is a edgy, cool, sassy, sexy brand with a strong image."
