(Filed Under Financial and General Interest News). Tefron Ltd. announced last Thursday that it has completed the acquisition of Canada-based Nouvelle Inc’s seamless activities following approval by a majority of investors at a shareholders meeting last Wednesday.
Tefron, an Israeli public company that manufactures branded and private label lingerie and activewear for Victoria’s Secret, Maidenform and other major businesses, announced in November that it would acquire Nouvelle’s seamless activities. Nouvelle is a private Canadian manufacturer of mass-market seamless apparel with broad distribution to U.S. retailers, Tefron said.
Tefron also announced that investors at the shareholders meeting approved a capital increase of $5.8 million. The company also succeeded in modifying its banking agreement, and will now receive an additional $5 million in loans.
“The acquisition of Nouvelle’s seamless activities adds a new component to our global strategy of regaining Tefron’s leading position in seamless apparel and performance apparel industry, particularly because it will help strengthen our sales and marketing network in the U.S. market,” said Amit Meridor, C.E.O of Tefron. “In addition the $10.8 million of fresh capital and new bank loans now provides Tefron with a base of financial stability, which will enable us to further build the company and develop other new markets.
“Yesterday’s strong investor support for the transactions confirms the confidence of our shareholders in our goals and business plan set by the management team.”
