(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Maria Scotto, a New York City-based designer, is taking the fuss out of sleepwear for the spring/summer 2011 season.
“I’m making a series of very easy, T-shirt-like sleep shirts that hit just above the knee; a little shorter than most of my shirts,” Scotto said. “I’m calling it the summer color series as it comes in pastel shades of mint, pale yellow and pale orange; a new color for me.”
The Summer Color styles are constructed from cotton and modal knit with ivory and pastel lace trim at the neck, and available in Maria Scotto’s typical sizing of Petite through XL. Although she is still finalizing wholesale pricing, Scotto said that pieces will not exceed $40. She will display between 40 and 50 styles, including the new series, at next February’s CurveNY.
Scotto sees the design in the new series as a touch younger than her other collections. “These are a little shorter and they don’t look like nightgowns, but more like little T-shirt dresses that a woman can walk around the house in, which gives them a more youthful look,” she said. “[My primary customer ranges from age] 25 to 60, and I think it will attract these same customers who wants something easier and younger for summer or for traveling.”
