(Filed Under wholesale Costume News). Rubie’s Costume Company has been awarded for both its “Mario” and Lady Gaga licensed costumes, launched for the 2010 Halloween season.
Party City, a major retailer in the party goods and Halloween industries, named Rubie’s “Mario”—which Rubie’s called one of its most popular licenses of the year—2010’s Best Humor Costume.
“It’s been an amazing success for both the children’s and adult categories since we acquired this Nintendo license,” said Howard Beige, executive vice president of Rubie’s. “We expect it will continue to be just as important in the upcoming Halloween season! We are very grateful and appreciative to be selected to receive this distinctive award from one of the most recognizable retailers in the Halloween industry.”
Party City also credited Rubie’s with bringing one of the hottest licenses of the year to the marketplace, naming its Lady Gaga line the Best Breakout License for 2010.
“We are very proud and honored to receive this distinction and thankful to be selected to receive this impressive award from one of the top retailers in the Halloween industry,” Beige said.
Rubie’s is the world’s largest manufacturer of Halloween costumes and costume accessories, specializing in the creation, design, manufacturing and distribution of costumes, make-up, wigs, accessories and more.
Party City is the largest specialty party goods chain in the United States, with more than 600 company-owned and franchised stores throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico. It is a division of Amscan Holdings Inc., with headquarters in Rockaway, N.J.
