(Filed Under Fashion News). Komar has signed a letter of intent to acquire Carole Hochman Design Group, the 102-year-old privately-held company announced last Thursday.
According to Komar, CHDG will run as an independent division of Komar. The executive team will remain in place; Carole Hochman will continue as founder and creative director, Seth Morris as president, Peter Gabbe as executive vice president and C.O.O and Susan Demusis as executive vice president and G.M.M of merchandising.
“For many years, we have admired and respected the brands that CHDG has built and nurtured,” Charles Komar, president and C.E.O of Komar, said. “We are delighted that we were able to conclude a transaction to acquire CHDG and we look forward to helping them continue to grow their portfolio of brands.”
“It is exciting to combine our core strengths, great brands and a similar culture. Komar provides us with tremendous synergies that few others could have,” Carole Hochman said in a statement. “I see myself conducting business as usual, but having a fabulous support system to make us even better. Charlie Komar really gets what we are about! I know this will be fun!”
Komar, founded by Charles Komar in 1908, designs, markets and manufacturers women’s and children’s sleepwear, loungewear and lingerie. Its brands and licenses include Donna Karan; DKNY; Disney; Kensie; Eileen West; Anne Klein; Lanz of Salzburg; University of Couture; Hello Kitty; and Cuddl Duds. The company also owns Lotta Luv cosmetics.
