(Filed Under Fashion News). Toronto-based Coconut Grove Intimates has hired owner Hylton Karon's stepdaughter, Cortney Scheiner, as vice president of sales and operations.
She began employment on January 5, 2009. Scheiner comes to the wholesale side of intimate apparel after working in retail human resources for the past 10 years. Most recently, she worked for American Eagle Outfitters in New York City.
"Coconut Grove has a lot of very innovative products that have not yet been marketed to their full potential," Scheiner said about her decision to work for the company, "My goals are to refine how we bring products to market, to improve customer service, and to bring cohesiveness and fun to a phenomenal team that works very diligently. I also love the city of Toronto, where I grew up, and am glad to be back here again."
"I am so please to have a family member join the company and bring valuable experience to the operation," Karon said, "The growth potential of the company is phenomenal: with global sourcing and innovative products, the future looks very bright."
Scheiner added that Coconut Grove is currently working on one to two "new innovative products" that should be launched for the fall 2009 season. She described their not-yet-launched new shapewear line as "like nothing else that is out there right now."
