(Filed Under Wholesale Swimwear News). Swimwear gave lingerie a run for its money at last month’s CurveNV, which took place at Las Vegas’ Venetian Hotel from Aug. 16 through 18. CurvExpo, the company that organizes the twice-yearly CurveNV, as well as CurveNY, the east coast equivalent, tested swim-focused events through out the show’s three days.
These events culminated in the So Swim So Curve Fashion Show at the Crazy Horse Paris Venue at the MGM Grand Hotel, which featured spring/summer 2011 looks. The company also introduced “The Beach Shop,” an area of the show dedicated to 60-plus swimwear brands, including L*Space; Luli Fama; Vitamin A; Jantzen; Karla Colleto; and Salinas.
CurvExpo said that the success of this initiative has inspired it to have a swimwear section at next February’s CurveNV, and to introduce a “New York Swim Fashion Week” at next August’s CurveNY. “CURVENV Las Vegas has raised the bar as not only being the place for lingerie on the West Coast, but now the ‘not to be missed’ event for the swimwear industry on the West Coast as well,” CurvExpo said.
Overall, the company estimated that approximately 2,500 buyers attended last month’s CurveNV, including representatives from the HSN network; Donna Bella Lingerie in Corvallis, Ore.; Purmission Lingerie in Santa Barbara, Calif.; and Injeanious in San Francisco.
