(Filed Under wholesale Sleepwear News). Ligne De Soie has grown into a contemporary loungewear concept since its inception one year ago with a single product: the silk kimono robe. Melissa Pelz, the American founder of the England-based company, now offers eight silk pieces in four colors, including cami tops, shorts, babydoll chemises, capri pants and a wrap. Wholesale prices run from $35 to $110, while sizes range from S through L.
Pelz described Ligne De Soie as a fresh take on classic styling. “Overall, my aim is to create stylish, sensual and relaxing silk loungewear that bridges innerwear and outerwear, and is flattering on a variety of body types,” she said.
“[When I came up with the concept for the line] I was traveling around a lot and wanted something that would fold up nicely and wouldn’t wrinkle, which is why I started using silk. Now, all my pieces come with a silk organza pouch to make them even more transportable [...] I got a lot of inspiration during my travels in Asia, but a lot of the styles were too traditional for my taste, so I added modern twist.”
The 2011 line offers hues of blue, orange, red and coral, which Pelz described as “vibrant colors that are also soothing to look at and flattering.” Pelz sells the styles through her direct-to-consumer website, MySilkLounge.com, as well as at select London boutiques. She attended the CurveNY show earlier this month for the first time.
She described her target customer as a 30 to 50-year-old woman. In addition to female consumers shopping for themselves, Pelz pointed out that about 50 percent of the website’s customers are men shopping for women.
